Hunter – Border Collie/Akita mix – 1 year – Male
Introducing our sweet boy, Hunter! Hunter was found wandering in a neighborhood, looking for food. People were feeding him, but he would not go near them, he’d hide until they would go inside. Finally, after weeks on his own, animal control was able to catch him and took him to a shelter up north. He was very frightened, but finally safe. Hunter sat there staying way back in the kennel when people walked by. That’s where SHR found him and decided it was time for Hunter to stop hiding. Now he’s at our shelter and making great progress!
Hunter is still shy, but loves kennel staff and loves playing with the other dogs. It’s wonderful to see him show us a little more of his personality every day. Hunter is such an awesome pup! He’s playful, loving, and once he trusts you, totally loves getting attention. He does well on a leash and really enjoys going for walks. He no longer has accidents in his kennel area so we believe he’s well on his way to being housebroken. Hunter would do best in a home with another dog, one that can show him that life is grand and people can be caring! He needs a person who is kind, patient, and understanding...allowing him to feel safe. Hunter is smart, active, and fun to have around. Take one look in his sweet eyes and you’ll see that Hunter is still unsure of how his life will go...he has so many questions. Take another look, are you the answer Hunter’s looking for?
