Lamont – Redbone Coonhound – 5yrs – male (87lbs)
Say hello to our distinguished gentleman, Lamont! This gorgeous boy was surrendered to a county shelter because his family said they had “too much going on, too many kids, and not enough time for him”. It’s heartbreaking that they’d had him since he was a puppy and didn’t consider him part of their family. 💔 Lamont did not do well in the county shelter, so we decided to snatch him up in the hope that he would do better in our smaller shelter. He needed to get out and about more and spend more time with humans. As he’s settling in, we’re learning more and more about this goofy boy and we’re happy to say he’s doing very well.
Lamont is all hound! He craves attention and uses his big body to lean into you. He can be quite stubborn about it! 😂 He loves his walks and is pretty good until he sees something he thinks needs to be checked out, then he can really pull. Because of his hound nose, sometimes Lamont will tell you what direction he needs to go. Thankfully, he corrects well. He is housebroken and good with everyone, kids included. Lamont has played with a few different dogs at the shelter, but is not overly playful yet and will choose the attention of a person over another dog. He is a great outdoor companion, but will need to be leashed or his nose will take him on his own adventure. And remember, he is a hound and has the voice to prove it. 😆 Lamont is loving, sweet, and very needy…he truly is just looking for love. He will need a person or family willing to get him the exercise and stimulation needed to keep him healthy and sane. In return, you will get unconditional love and loyalty like you’ve never known. If our happy boy sounds like he needs to be in your life, please consider making Lamont a part of your family. Complete our application to meet and hopefully adopt this very good boy.
