Mort – English Coonhound mix – 8 yrs – male (67lbs)

Introducing our handsome gentleman, Mort! This sweet boy was owned by the same family his entire life, but had to be surrendered to a county shelter when their toddler started walking. Sadly, the toddler made Mort very uncomfortable. He never bit the child, but would back up, look fearful, and try to get out of the room. Because of this, Mort lost his home. As you know, a county shelter is no place for a senior dog. It was loud, scary, and Mort was very confused about being there. We heard his story and had to get him out of there! Mort is settling in with us and becoming much more comfortable in our quieter, smaller shelter setting.

Mort is a very good boy! He is housebroken, good on a leash, and very easy going. He has a few play-buddies that he can go out with, but he hasn’t really actively played with other dogs yet. He does, however, absolutely love playing with toys. He carries them around and throws them in the air…it’s adorable to see him so happy. Mort is mellow, sweet, and great company; he doesn’t ask for much. He’s just looking for a kind person to love and care for him for the rest of his life. Please share and help us get this sweet senior out of the shelter environment and into a loving home. Complete our application to meet and make Mort part of your life!
