Dwight – Foxhound – 5 months – male

Meet our adorable boy, Dwight! This sweet pup was one of only two surviving puppies that were bred in a backyard by a VERY irresponsible owner. His mom (Tallulah) was kept on a tie-out and the owner did not give them adequate food or shelter. Neighbors were forced to help care for mom and her puppies. Animal control would be called, but our laws are so weak that they were never able to do anything about it – until the last time when there were actually several dead puppies in the yard. Finally, the owner was forced to surrender all three dogs.

When Dwight first came to us, he was very shutdown, scared, and unsure of what was going on. He had never known love from humans and he wasn’t sure what to expect. We placed Dwight in a foster home and right away he began to relax and let his puppy personality out for us to see! Dwight loves other dogs and is quick to get in a play-stance to entice play – he thinks everything is a game. He’s also quick to “let his hound out”, he has a big voice and isn’t afraid to use it. 😂 He is crate trained and, with a doggie-door, pretty much housebroken. Now that he knows love, he has become quite the cuddle bug. He loves a good tummy rub and to get scratched behind his big, floppy ears. Dwight is happy, playful m, and full of fun! He does tend to use his big feet to paw you to remind you that he’s there. He’s very food motivated so training should be made easier. While our sweet boy had a very rough start to life, he now has a happy outlook and is ready to start his new life, a life filled with love and laughter! If you think you’re ready to give our sweet Dwight all the love he needs, please complete our application to start the process.
